Proposed relocation of civic amenity site

Statement from the cabinet member about the proposed relocation of the civic amenity site in Stourbridge:

Councillor Hilary Bills, cabinet member for environmental services, said:“At peak times, our civic amenity site in Stourbridge gets very busy and can lead to traffic queuing out of the entrance and onto the busy main road.  We’re therefore exploring other options such as the Leys Depot, which has been identified as a better location for the waste and recycling centre long term as it has more capacity than the current site.

“City of Wolverhampton Council has also announced a proposal to close its waste and recycling centre on Anchor Lane in the next couple of years in Coseley, which is currently used by many residents in the north of the borough.  Therefore a central location for our waste and recycling centre would better serve residents across the whole borough.

"This is also part of a much wider rationale to improve the way we work to bring about savings and be more cost effective.”
