Veronica Robinson Court Case

Tony Oakman, strategic director, people directorate:

“We are gratified to see that a guilty verdict had been reached in relation to this case which saw the deliberate alienation and exploitation of an extremely vulnerable, elderly man.

“Thanks to the vigilance of neighbours who alerted the council to this case, we were able to take a two pronged approach to tackling this insidious crime. Working closely with colleagues in our adult safeguarding team, Dudley’s trading standards team has instigated another successful criminal prosecution. We hope that this case shows that we take the safety and wellbeing of our residents incredibly seriously and we will investigate and prosecute where cases of this nature come to our attention.

“We are pleased that the property purchased with £188,000 of the victim`s money has already been returned to him as a result of proceedings taken by Dudley Council and the man`s family.”
