Adult social care - what's important to you?

We are asking for your views on adult social care and what’s important to you.

Our role is to continue to offer quality care and support services that help more people to live independently in their
own homes.

We have recently announced that we will need to make further savings over the next three years to meet additional reductions in
government funding. So we are asking you to give your views on how the council’s adult social care service is going to meet
the financial challenges over the next few years.

The ideas listed below are some of the key ways in which the council is suggesting we will meet these challenges.
Our proposals are:

  • To improve information and advice to make sure people get the information they need to remain independent.

  • To support people to remain independent in their homes by using technology and equipment.

  • To make sure people have effective short term intensive support to reduce the need for long term care.

  • To make sure more people are able to control how their care needs are met through having money paid
directly to them. This is called a personal budget.

  • To buy quality services at the lowest price to make the money go further. This may result in some people
having a different care provider other than the council in meeting their care and support needs.

  • To join up health and social care services to make sure more people are supported at home and not residential
    care or in hospital.

Come along to one of our budget sessions to share your views (call 01384 815130 to confirm your attendance):
