An angling permit system regulates the fishing at Fens Pools. The site is primarily a nature reserve, however, angling is well established and is a highly valued informal activity. The three large pools and adjoining canal have excellent fish stocks, including some very large pike and carp.
A close season operates from the 15th March to the 15th June each year and fishing is not permitted during that period.
There are two types of angling permit:
Concessionary - applicants must show that they are unwaged, e.g college identity card, pension book, UB40.
Persons under sixteen do not require a permit.
Please see our Fee area for this year's prices.
Permits are valid for one year from the 31st March. They can be obtained from:
Black Country Tackle,
51 High Street Brockmoor
There are two car parks which give reasonable access to Fens Pools:
A public car park of Chapel Street, Pensnett
Car park adjoining the Wardens’ Office at the junction of Pensnett Road and Bryce Road.
