Our site gives full descriptions and pictures of the most common pests found in homes. We also have advice about the things you can do to prevent pests infesting your home, or treatments you can carry out yourself.

Beetles and Cockroaches

Beetles are the most diverse group of insects.  In order to successfully treat an infestation, the species needs to be correctly identified.  Please contact us for identification and treatment for identification and treatment if you have any problems with beetles in the home.

Cockroaches present one of the most significant public health risks, carrying diseases such as dysentery, gastroenteritis, diarrhoea, typhoid, poliomyelitis and salmonella.

Mice and Rats

Mouse

Mice carry diseases such as Salmonella and they can also transmit a type of Leptospirosis.  Their continual dribble of urine contaminates food and feedstuffs.  They are a particular problem in grain stores, warehouses, shops, hospitals and even domestic premises.

Rats are a worldwide pest due to their capacity to cause structural damage, to spread life-threatening diseases, and to compete with man for food.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are about 5mm long, and looking like a small, flat red-brown disc, the common bed-bug is found in human habitations world-wide.

Ants

One of the commonest insects that invades houses is the Garden Ant. The ant is an active insect and nests outside in grass, walls and under paving.

Wasps

There are several methods for the control and eradication of wasp nests, these include specialist chemicals, and methods available to the public i.e. Wasp nest destroyers in the form of aerosol sprays.

Cat and Dog Fleas

The cat flea is the cause of over three-quarters of all flea infestations.  Human and dog fleas are less common and the majority of human flea bites come from cat fleas.
