How to make a claim

The following conditions apply to your policy:

You must make your claim within 60 days of the incident by either:

  • Obtaining a claim form from The Dudley Council Insurance Team by calling 01384 815051 (office hours). The form must be returned to Crawford and Company, 1st Floor, Building 8, Exchange Quay, Salford Quays, Manchester, M5 3EJ

 

 

Important Information

Complete the claim form and return it without delay to the Loss Adjuster at:

Crawford and Company, 1st Floor, Building 8, Exchange Quay, Salford Quays, Manchester, M5 3EJ, or by clicking the submit button on the online form. Claims not submitted within 60 days of the incident will be disallowed.

You must tell the police about all incidents of accidental loss, theft, attempted theft, or vandalism, loss, damage or injury caused by malicious persons.

Send to the Loss Adjuster immediately at the address in c) above, every letter or document about a claim. YOU, or any other person insured under this policy, or any or anyone acting on your or their behalf must not negotiate any claim or admit liability without the written permission of the Loss Adjuster.

Supply at your own expense all reports, certificates, plans, specifications, information and assistance reasonably required.

Don’t Dispose of anything

Ensure that no damaged item is disposed of without being seen by the Loss Adjuster who is appointed to act independently of the POLICYHOLDER and Insurers in settling claims. Freezer contents can be disposed of but claimants must either take a photograph of the food or keep the boxes or receipts.

Assist the insurer

The Insurers can defend or settle any legal action in your name, or in the name of any other person insured by this policy. The Insurers can recover any payment THEY make under the policy to anyone else at their own expense and for their own benefit and the Insurers can do it in your name or in the name of any other person insured by this policy. The Insurers can ask YOU and any other person insured by this policy for all the information and help THE INSURERS need.

What happens next?

Initial contact period. You should be contacted by the Loss Adjuster within 48 hours of receipt of the completed claim form. Mobile phone users may be contacted by the Short Message Service (SMS) text facility at key stages of the claim.

Claims Emergency Out-of-hours Helpline

This service is operated by Robins Response, Loss Adjusters and will provide policy holders with assistance for home emergencies where it is not possible to contact Dudley MBC. It is available 24 hours a day.

REMEMBER any repair charges will be indicated to YOU before YOU accept the contractor's help and payment of the bill will be your responsibility.

However, if the damage is covered by your policy, the Insurers will reimburse YOU for the bill. Claims should be submitted after following the claims procedure above.
