Book a resource

It's easy to book a computer or other resource such as a table or microfilm reader. 

How to book

If you registered as a CARN user at Dudley archives you can book a resource online using the link below.  If you registered at a Record Office in another area please book by phoning the archives on 01384 812770.

Your username/logon will be based on your CARN ticket number.  Follow the example below:

CARN ticket number= 43/1234

Your username/logon= 043/12340000  (as you can see you will need to add extra zeros)

Password= Same as your CARN pin number which should be the last four digits/letters of your postcode e.g. DY1 1HR = 11HR

You can also use the same method to book a public access computer at any of Dudley Libraries.  This also includes access to the free Wi-Fi network at any Dudley library.

Request documents in advance

You can now request up to 3 documents in advance of your visit by sending us an email.  Please allow two working days notice.  You are welcome to order more items during your visit. 

Please note: There is no guarantee that all of the documents ordered will be available.

  • Please provide two working days notice to order items. If we do not have sufficient notice, we cannot guarantee that the documents will be available when you arrive. 
  • Please enter full reference numbers for up to three items. These reference numbers must relate to individual ITEMS not COLLECTIONS, if you are unsure about this, please ask us via telephone or email. Telephone: 01384 812770.  Email:Dudley Archives.
  • To find a reference, please search our Catalogue using the Black Country History Website.
  • If your plans change, please let us know to enable us to put your documents away or make them available for you on a different day. Your documents will be kept on reserve for one week.
