Volunteering - get involved!

Teacher and child

We have the following volunteering roles available with Dudley Libraries.

If you are interested in volunteering roles other than 'Information Buddy' then please fill in the application form below and mark your form as 'other opportunities' including details of your particular skills and interests. For further information contact us.

Information Buddies

Can you help people take the first steps to using a computer with confidence or to help them find information that is available online?  If you enjoy helping people, have reasonable computer skills, and a patient manner, then you are just the person we are looking for. You will be available in libraries at regular times (at least one session am or pm per week), so that people seeking help can book a time slot with you.

Bookshop Volunteer

Dudley Library has recently launched a book shop within the library selling withdrawn library stock in good condition. Volunteers are needed to sort and price stock, to arrange stock within the shop, and to staff the shop at busy times. Volunteers would also be encouraged to hold promotional events e.g. coffee mornings to promote the shop.
Full training and on-going support would be given.

Library Links volunteer

Could you assist us with general Library duties at our Library Links? If you would like to find out more you can chat to one of our staff or email us for further information.

Summer Reading Challenge

The Summer Reading Challenge takes place every year and we invite applications from volunteers to help us.

  • Do you love books and reading and have the ability to promote that to others? Are you interested in working with the public, particularly children aged 4-11 years and their families?

  • We are looking for volunteers aged 14-24 years who are eager to encourage children to do the library challenge and discover the joy of reading books.

  • You will help library staff register children on the challenge and support activities and events. You should be
willing to commit to a minimum of 12 hours volunteering with libraries during the summer.

  • Full details about the role is provided in the document below.

Applications for summer reading challenge role close on Sunday June 18th.
