Autism is a lifelong, developmental disability. It can affect a person's social interaction, behaviour, communication and how they experience the world around them.

Dudley Autism Partnership

The aim of the Dudley Autism Partnership is to raise the profile of adults with autism and Asperger syndrome. We want to ensure the delivery of better services to meet their needs.

The Dudley Autism Partnership oversees the the Autism Strategy for the borough. The group is made up of:

  • people with autism
  • carers
  • Dudley Council
  • Dudley Integrated Health and Care NHS Trust
  • voluntary/independent groups

Autism awareness online training

To help people learn more about autism the council has developed an online training programme. It is free and you can do it at any time.

The step-by-step guide explains what autism is and how it affects people’s behaviour. It offers suggestions on how to deal with difficult situations.

There are two modules – About Autism and Helping People with Autism. Each module takes about 30 minutes to complete.

Leisure and recreation & support

People with autism or sensory sensitivity can enjoy a trip to the cinema.

Dudley autism strategy

Over the past year, we have delivered a range of online activities and engagement sessions with various groups with an interest in supporting the Autism Strategy. We were especially interested to hear people’s views on the impact of Covid-19 on people with autism.

We delivered 5 online engagement events, coordinated by Dudley Voices for Choice (DVC). If you would like any further information about these events please contact Dudley Voices for Choice or call 01384 217057.
