Road Safety and Travel Awareness

The Road Safety and Travel Awareness Team carry out a statutory responsibility under the 1988 Road Traffic Act to deliver a program of road safety education, training and publicity.

Our aims are 

  • to help reduce the number and severity of road traffic casualties

  • to raise awareness of the way people travel.

We encourage people to examine their current mode of travel and consider its effect on the environment and their own health and well being.

Education and Training

Road Safety is a vital part of every child's education. Our role is to support schools in providing this through education and training on the whole range of curriculum subjects. Support may be in the form of resources and lesson plans, practical training, special events or class visits.
