Events at Himley Hall

Himley Hall is a commanding 18th Century building set amongst 180 acres of 'Capability' Brown landscaped parkland. Once the family home to the Earls of Dudley and host to royalty and high society, today it offers contemporary art and craft exhibitions during spring and summer, as well as prestigious conference facilities and guided tours. The Hall also provides a glamorous setting for civil wedding ceremonies and receptions and other special occasions.

Himley Park is now a premier events venue playing host to a variety of outdoor events from garden plant fairs and classic vehicle shows to the breathtaking Himley Fireworks display. Visitors may participate in golf, pitch and putt, fishing, orienteering, sailing or just simply a peaceful stroll around the park and picnic. The park is now visited by over 200,000 visitors each year.




Events in Himley Hall

Himley Hall is open to the general public in spring and summer and for special events and bookings throughout the year. The Hall is open to the public from Saturday 1st April until Sunday 3rd September 2017.

2017 opening hours are: Tuesday - Sunday & Bank Holiday Monday 2.00 - 5.00pm

‘Costume & Kit’ ....A Step back in Time  Saturday 1 April – Sunday 25 June

A fabulous display of costumes and equipment from the world of re-enactment kindly loaned by members of the Harvington Household, based at Harvington Hall near Kidderminster.  The group regularly puts on displays and living history events all over the country using their own historic possessions, offering a fascinating glimpse into the past.


‘A Time It Was’ by Phil Loach     Saturday 1 April – Sunday 11 June

As staff photographer for a range of local weekly newspapers Phil Loach has covered all manner of events and pictured all kinds of people. Phil’s exhibition reflects one man’s viewpoint of people, places and events from just forty or so years ago, a time before ‘selfies’ were the norm!


‘Camera Creations’  Saturday 17 June – Sunday 3 September

Celebrating the 35th anniversary of Wall Heath Camera Club. From the vivid colours of an autumn landscape to a gritty monochrome portrait, to the beauty of a wild animal in its natural habitat, each photograph tells its own unique story. ‘Camera Creations’ is Wall Heath Camera Club’s way of sharing their view of the world inviting visitors on a journey through landscapes, portraits and wildlife.


‘A Brush with Colour’  Saturday 8 July – Sunday 3 September

An eclectic collection of art by Hagley Art Club, encapsulating their passions and interests, life in general, the world around us and places members have visited.. In the work on display you will see a difference in the presentations of the subjects: nature, landscapes, animals and people – in a broad range of mediums.


'Inspirations in Colour'  Saturday 8 July - Sunday 3 September

Stourbridge Art Group came together through the desire of local artists to exhibit some of their work. In their first visit to Himley Hall, this exhibition allows the group's members to share their love of colour, tone and form in a variety of subjects and media.


Bridal Fayre  Sunday 1 October  11am – 3pm

This Bridal Fayre takes place within the beautiful setting of Himley Hall and showcases everything needed for your special day, including two fashion shows. It offers a relaxed and friendly atmosphere for future brides, grooms and their families.

Craft & Christmas Fayre   Saturday 18 & Sunday 19 November  10.30am – 5pm

Christmas shopping with over 50+ stalls including crafts, gifts and food exhibitors from around the Midlands.

Himley Hall Guided Tours ...discover the hidden secrets of the hall

Discovering just what is behind all the huge panelled doors, or seeing the former indoor swimming pool with its 'cocktail balcony' still intact, can only be done on a Himley Hall guided tour.

The fascination with Himley continues and guided tours are available during the summer months on specific dates (admission fee). Guided tours are also available for groups of 24 or more persons, with buffet and refreshments if desired.

Bob Bunny’s Eggcelent Adventure  Wednesday 12 April  11am – 3pm

Children's trail around Himley Park. The Easter Bunny (Bob) has lost some of the Easter eggs he was due to deliver. Help Bob find the eggs and complete his deliveries.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Free event, car parking charge applies


RNLI – 6 Hour Lifeboat Race   Saturday 6 May  10am – 4pm

The annual 6 hour race is open to visiting sailors as well as club members. Sailors are encouraged to get sponsorship to raise funds for the RNLI. Members of the public are invited to come and watch and there will be a stall managed by the RNLI selling gifts and other goods on behalf of the lifeboats. Over the years, the club has raised over £96,000 and we are aiming to hit the £100,000 in time for our 50th anniversary in 2020. Dragon Boat Racing  Sunday 21 May  10am – 4.30pm

This is the 17th year of this thrilling and spectacular all action event with teams battling it out on the Great Pool in Chinese Dragon Boats. A charity organised event by Wolverhampton Rotary Club.

Guided Walk of Himley  Sunday 28 May  10am – 12noon

A walk around the historic Grounds of Himley Hall looking at some of the architectural features and the wildlife found on the park.

Meeting point by the notice board on the main car park. The walk is on uneven ground so suitable footwear should be worn.

Superhero Kids Trail   Wednesday 31 May  11am – 3pm

Dress up as your favourite Superhero and take part in the children’s trail around Himley Park.

Vintage Transport & Country Fair  Sunday 4 June  10am – 4pm   

Now established in the Himley Hall and Park events calendar, this summer’s event promises to be bigger and better; in 2016 we had a spectacular display of different types of transport, a vintage funfair and a fabulous array of stalls selling ethnic hand crafted collectables, unique & unusual artefacts and mouth watering street foods.

Don’t be shy, chat to the owners; there is nothing they like more than to tell the history of their exhibit.  Free admission

Band Concert  Sunday 4 June   2.30pm – 5pm

Enjoy an afternoon relaxing to AD Concert Band, who will be performing a mixture of light concert classics, including music from stage shows, films and other popular music.

A guided walk around the Himley Estate exploring some of Himley’s fascinating history and wildlife found on the park with the opportunity to visit the Earl of Dudley’s Memory Garden at the end of the walk. The walk is on uneven ground so suitable footwear should be worn.

Open Day of the Earl of Dudley’s Memory Garden
Saturday 17 June  11am – 4pm
Sunday 18 June      1pm – 3.30pm

The only opportunity in the year to view the evocative Earl of Dudley’s private Memory Garden, last resting place of the actress Gertie Millar wife of the second Earl of Dudley, the fourth Earl and his wife the film star Maureen Swanson.

On Saturday there will be stalls, organ music and refreshments.  There is a small admission charge to enter the Memory Garden


Teenage Market   Sunday 18 June   11am – 5pm

An opportunity for young entrepreneur to promote their budding businesses by having a stall, free of charge. We are also looking for entertainers to perform at the event.

Come along to an afternoon with Madi Stimpson Trio, who will be playing a mix of gypsy, bebop and bluegrass. Feel free to bring a picnic and make an afternoon of it.

Under 5’s Fun Day   Friday 23 June   10am – 3pm

This fun filled event is specifically designed for children under 5 years old, with entertainment running for 5 hours including the famous Himley Beach, Baby &Toddler Sense, Music Bugs, Rugby Tots, Creation Station, Active Adventurers, Baby Ballet, and much, much more.

British Armed Forces Day   Sunday 25 June   11am – 5 pm

This free event runs offers fun for all the family, including an archery range, paint ball gallery, ex-military vehicle display and vintage children's rides. 

There will be performances from youth marching bands as well as the RAF Cosford Voluntary Band and a theatre show by the Land Girls.  Highlights of the day include a veterans badge presentation and an opportunity to meet regiments from across the region.

Plus there will be a vintage fair, provided by Kiki & Honey, World War II history talks and exhibition of Black Country Cavalry and the Yeomanry. For further details contact 01384 817449.

Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life  Sunday 9 July 11am start

Join us by taking part in a Race for Life 5k event. 5k is an achievable distance for all ages and abilities and you can run, walk or even dance your way round the course.

The Dudley course is on a mix of terrain with some sections on paths and is fairly flat, with one incline. The course passes the lake and Himley Hall itself and so is a very picturesque course with a great atmosphere.

Walk for Dreams 2017   Sunday 16 July   11am start

Join us on our annual walk and help us to make dreams come true for terminally and seriously ill children. Walk for Dreams is a 10 mile walk from Himley Park to Wolverhampton Racecourse ending in a fantastic fun day for all the family. It is completely free to enter, we just ask you to raise as much sponsorship money as you can. This is your chance to make a real difference and be a part of something amazing!

Dinosaurs Vs Fairies   Thursday 3 August   11am – 3pm

Children's trail around Himley Park. Everybody thinks dinosaurs died out 66 million years ago, but actually they were shrunk by fairies and their eggs used to make perfect fairy cakes! However the dinosaurs have now escaped into Himley Park and you can either warn the fairies or help the dinosaurs to escape.

Children must be accompanied by an adult.  Free event, car parking charge applies

An opportunity for young ones to dress up and run around the park. Pick up a clue sheet from the park warden then follow the clues around the park and answer the questions.

Classic Vehicle Show   Sunday 3 September   10am – 4pm

The classic & retro show presents a fine selection of over 800 vehicles as well as trade and autojumble stands. There will be a number of static displays to see including saloons, sports, American, commercial, military and classic motorcycles.

Neon Night Run 2017  Friday 22 September   6.30pm – 10pm

A huge neon party to raise money for the Mary Stevens Hospice.

We come together for a night of live music and incredible performances before walking, running and dancing 5k around the beautiful grounds of Himley Hall.

At the first ever event in 2016, more than 1200 people packed out the park and raised more than £23,000 for the support of local families!

The largest local authority fireworks display in the Country, the legendary Himley Fireworks will be lighting up the night sky, set to this year’s theme.
