Transport and streets

The council is committed to improving public roads and is responsible for footways and footpaths across the borough. This section will provide you with information about our local transport policy, road safety, street care and cleansing, parking and abandoned vehicles.

Street Cleansing

The Council is responsible for the cleanliness of adopted streets, roads, car parks and footpaths by providing litter bins in busy areas, such as shopping centres and public parks, and patrolling areas where litter is a problem and removing it.

Keeping Brierley Hill Moving

Keeping Brierley Hill moving involves a multi-million pound package of schemes known as the Brierley Hill Sustainable Access Network.  This centres on a new parallel route to the High Street between Dudley Road and Church Street together with a new road linking Waterfront Way with Pedmore Road.

Gritting and Snow Clearance

The British winter is unpredictable, bad weather can strike suddenly. If your journey is unavoidable, make sure you are prepared for the conditions. Never assume a road has been salted. Always listen to local and national radio for travel information.

Road Safety & Travel Awareness

The aims of the Road Safety & Travel Awareness Team are to help reduce the number and severity of road traffic casualties and to raise awareness of the way people travel.

We encourage people to examine their current mode of travel and consider its effect on the environment and their own health and well being.
