Cycling

Cycling is fun, keeps us fit and helps keep the air we breathe cleaner. The road safety & travel awareness team provides training, advice and information to cyclists of all ages and types.  We also produce route maps and promote cycling, taking part in Bike Week and other events.

February Half Term

We have free Cycling Activities at various "hubs" over the half term period. For more information on activities, times and venues please see the information flyer at the bottom of the page.

Bike Week

Bike Week is an annual event in June. More details can be found at the bike week website.

Free Cycle Training for Adults and Children

Various Cycling activities will be running on the first Saturday of every month starting Saturday 4th February , from "the hub" Mary Stevens Park.

All activities are free of charge but must be booked in advance. For more information on activities and how to book, please see the information flyer at the bottom of the page.

Breeze Rides

Fun, friendly, social bikes rides for women.

Breeze rides will be running on the first Saturday of each month at 12.15 from "the hub", Mary Stevens Park, and on the last Friday of each month at 10.30 from Priory Park.

Cycle Training

Besides providing Bikeability training in schools and colleges  we also run holiday schemes for children, group and family sessions and personalised sessions for adults.

There is a also a regular training programme on the first Saturday of the month at Mary Stevens Park. This includes sessions for children and adults, from complete beginners though to those looking to gain confidence riding on the road.

Cycling on Towpaths

The canal network provides a great opportunity for leisure cycling, and commuting. Don't forget that cyclists should follow the Waterways Code, and get a free permit to use the towpaths - you can download both.
