Maintenance of Road Drains and Gullies

A road gully is a smaller chamber covered by a metal grate, found on the edge of a highway. It is used to collect surface water from the highway, and may then lead to a public sewer. Dudley Council is responsible for the cleaning and maintenance of pedestrian street drains and gullies that are on the public highway. These are the gullies that run along the kerbside, carrying rainwater away. The Council cleans and maintains over 36,500 gullies (or drains) in the Borough.

For enquires or to report a problem with a gully (e.g. blockages) or have dropped something (e.g. keys) accidentally into the gully contact us. Please note that all reports of gullies being mis-used will be dealt with confidentially
