Back Dudley's bid for city status - 2012

Dudley’s bid for city status in 2012 has been boosted after the local business community launched an e-petition in support of the application.

Dudley Chamber of Commerce has launched the e-petition in support of the city status bid and people are now being invited to show their support and back the bid.

The search is on to find Dudley’s unsung heroes with the launch of the ninth prestigious Mayor’s Civic Awards.

They give people the chance to highlight those working tirelessly in their communities and people are being asked to nominate someone special for an award.

Community groups funding

Voluntary and community groups across the borough are being encouraged to apply for funding Dudley Council is using to support local projects.

Business as usual for Stourbridge Library and Town Hall

It’s business as usual for Stourbridge Library and Town Hall as work on a new temporary entrance gets underway as part of a multi million pound development.

Ownership of the Crown Centre and Bell Street Car Park recently transferred to developers Tesco and although no dates have been confirmed for when work on the development will start, works to create a new temporary entrance for the library and town hall will be developed over the next few weeks to facilitate the development.

Dudley Council budget 2012

Dudley borough residents look set to benefit from a council tax freeze as the authority’s budget plans are unveiled.

Around £22 million of savings have already been successfully made in Dudley in the past year and council chiefs have set out proposals to save a further £7.5million in 2012/13, rising to £13million in 2014/15.

Town centre utility works

A co-ordinated programme of road works, which are being carried out by a number of utility companies in Dudley town centre.
The work is taking a break over the Christmas period. A full list of road works for 2012 is available.

Diamond Jubilee street parties

Dudley Council is encouraging residents to join in the celebrations and host a street party for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee this June. The council is joining in the spirit and waiving the standard legal fee required to close the road.
