Exciting preparations for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic games are well underway in Dudley.
Dudley Council has confirmed there will be a wide-range of activities, events and celebrations across the borough from the beginning of the year through to the end of the games.
Sport Relief will run the Dudley Mile at the Dell Stadium healthy hub on 25 March 2012.
From 16 to 20 May there will be a series of outdoor dance performances using playground settings as part of the Cultural Olympiad. This will include participation in the national ‘Big Dance’, which is an attempt to beat the world record to get the most people dancing at one time.
For the Diamond Jubilee Weekend from 2 to 5 June there will be events at the healthy hubs.
St Thomas’s Network will host community games from the 22 June to 8 July with activities and events for all the family.
Over 350 young people from Dudley Schools will take part in the Black Country School Games festival in Walsall in February and Wolverhampton in June. This is part of a national programme school games that have been inspired by London 2012.
On 30 June the official torch relay will visit Dudley, details of this will be confirmed next year.
Under the Get Set Education Programme 30 of the borough schools have also registered to receive free tickets to visit the games.
