The fortnightly Wordsley Canal Trail has now been extended to take in exciting new exhibitions at the Red House Glass Cone.
Dudley Council’s parks team has been delivering the Wordsley trail since June.
The picturesque fortnightly, one hour walk meets at the main car park, Wordsley Park off Lawnswood Road and takes in the parkland and canal towpaths. It has proved so popular, a visit to the Red House Glass Cone will be included in every other session. Both walks are led by Matt Owen and are an easy level.
The standard walk meets every other Wednesday at 10am. Dates are 21 November, 19 December, 23 January, 20 February, 19 March, 16 and 30 April.
The special walks to the cone meet on 7 November, 5 December, 9 January, 6 February, 5 March and 2 April. Participants can take in the latest exhibition and look around the historic site. All walks meet at 10am at Wordsley Park car park. All are easy. Admission to the cone is free.
The walk is part of the Walk Fit, Buggy Fit and Green Fit programme which allows participants to get fit, have fun and make new friends – for free.
Walks are open to anyone who wants to get out in the fresh air as part of a regular fitness programme. The activities help participants to get fit, socialise and relax in a safe, calming green environment.
Each walk is delivered by a qualified walk leader. Participants can walk at their own pace and won’t be left behind. It’s a fun, safe and easy way to get fit and meet new people. Best of all its free.
Participants need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear and arrive at the meeting point ten minutes before the walk starts. There is no need to book. No dogs on the visits to the cone.
