Thousands are expected to descend on Dudley next weekend when the town holds the hugely popular rock and fossil festival.
The Dudley Rock and Fossil Festival is the biggest of its kind in the West Midlands and will take place next Saturday and Sunday (Sep 22 and 23).
This year’s event coincides with the opening of an exciting dinosaur exhibition at the museum and gives the event its theme, ‘return of the dinosaurs’.
The fossil extravaganza will see exhibitors showcase everything from rocks, fossils and gems to jewellery and earth science books.
The family friendly event will also host lots of fun activities for children including wacky trilobite races and free fossil face painting.
Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara, cabinet member for leisure and culture said:
“The festival is always extremely popular and I’m sure thousands of people will visit both the concert hall and museum over the two days. This year’s event is set to be bigger than ever with the opening of the return of the dinosaurs exhibition which I’m sure will be a big hit.”
It will run from 10am to 5pm on Saturday and 10am to 4pm on Sunday. It costs £2 for adults, £1 for children and £5 for families.
