Staff at a Dudley day centre are keeping their fingers crossed for a young carer who is in line for a prestigious award.
Stuart Green, aged 11, is up against three other carers in a televised vote for the award run by Central News tomorrow (FRI).
Stuart helps look after his mum Tracey Richardson and step dad Robert Jones, who both suffer from epilepsy.
He was nominated by his mum, supported by staff at the Woodside Day Centre in Highgate Road, Dudley, where his parents also receive help and support. Staff are now rooting for the youngster, as he goes before the public vote.
Jacqui Hohn, senior day care officer at Woodside said:
“We are all really excited about the televised vote and we hope he does well.
“He is such a lovely lad and really deserves this award. I would hope everyone will vote for him tomorrow.”
The winner will get a special award and go on to represent the region at the Pride of Britain Awards in London, in October.
Stuart, who attends Pedmore Technology College and Community School, spends a lot of his time looking after his parents at their home in Queensway, Wollescote.
He carries out daily chores such as shopping, housework and helps his mum and step dad through any ill health.
Councillor Peter Miller, cabinet member for adult and community said:
“It is great to see Stuart manages to mix playing and having fun while helping with the care of his mother and step father. I would urge everyone to support him when it comes to the vote.”
