The Olympic handover flag will be flying in Dudley throughout September as the countdown to London 2012 begins.
Dudley Council has received the handover flag from the London 2012 organising committee and is permitted to fly it until September 30. The flag will fly from Dudley Council House to mark the Olympic and Paralympic handover from Beijing to London.
Councillor David Caunt, leader of the council, said:
“This is the start of the journey that will see the Olympics and Paralympics come to Britain and we are only too pleased to show our support by flying the handover flag.”
The Dudley flag is one of hundreds being raised across the country at places such as local government buildings, army barracks and Whitehall departments.
Flags are are also flying at the points furthest north, south, east and west in the UK.
