A giant cuddly bear will be pawsing for thought at a number of borough venues next week to help promote a love of reading.
The Bookstart Bear will accompany Dudley librarians as they promote the national programme, which encourages parents and carers to enjoy reading with children, from as early an age as possible to develop a lifelong love of books.
The first stop on his whistle stop tour is the Mummy Morning session at Debenhams, Merry Hill Centre, on Tuesday April 29 from 10am to 11am.
The giant bear will then stop by at rattle and rhyme sessions at Wordsley Green Library on Wednesday April 30 from 1pm to 2.30pm, Dudley Library on Thursday May 1 from 10.30am to 11.15am, Stourbridge Library on Friday May 2 from 11am and Long Lane Library on Tuesday May 6 from 11am.
Linda Sanders, director of adult, community and housing services, said:
“To inspire children to have a love of reading from an early age is a wonderful opportunity. Come along to one of our many sessions and find out how Dudley libraries can support your child’s development.”
