Dudley residents who want to request a postal vote for this year’s local council election are urged not to miss the April 16 deadline.
New postal vote applications, amendments to or cancellation of existing postal or proxy votes for the May 1 local election must be with the electoral registration office at Kudos House, 3 Ednam Road, Dudley by 5pm on Wednesday April 16.
The same day is the deadline for residents to ensure they are included on the electoral register so they do not miss out on their chance to vote.
Postal votes are more flexible than ever as voters can now have one for any election, for a set period or as a permanent arrangement. Postal votes for this year’s election will be sent to residents before April 25.
People who will be away before the postal votes are issued can appoint someone to vote on their behalf as a proxy. New applications to vote by proxy must be received by 5 pm on Wednesday April 23.
Alison Mason, head of electoral services, said:
“It’s really important that people do not miss these deadlines to ensure they are on the electoral register or to register for a postal or proxy vote.”
Residents can get an application for a postal or proxy vote by telephoning the election helpline on 01384 814740 or visit the electoral registration office at Kudos House, 3 Ednam Road, Dudley or www.dudley.gov.uk and navigate to the local elections 2008 pages.
