Dudley Council’s Co-ordinator of the Safeguarding Children’s Board is ready to take on the LondonMarathon on Sunday (13 April).
Graham Tilby aims to raise £5,000 to raise awareness about the risks posed to children and young people by internet and phone technologies. He will be running on behalf of Dudley Children Safeguarding Board and the Saltmine Trust Hope 2008 Team. The cash raised will be used to fund a drama production and resource pack for schools to promote the positive aspects of new technologies and highlight the importance of online safety. The initiative is aimed at children in Years 4 to 8 and will be trialledduring the summer-term.
John Freeman, Director of Dudley’s children’s services said:
“The internet and mobile phone are now part of children’s daily lives and they are valuable resources and can bring many opportunities. However, we need to make sure that children and young people stay safe with these relatively new technologies and ensure that that they are aware of the possible dangers. I wish Graham every success for the marathon”.
