Pupils and staff at Rufford Primary were today visited by Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall.
After being greeted by the whole school, the head boy, Joshua Oakley and head girl, Sophia Ahmed, presented the Duchess with a posy of flowers, before showing her into the school hall.
The Duchess spent time talking to Yr 6 pupils, watched them take part in activities and looked at the displays of their work with the Dudley and Districts support group of the National Osteoporosis Society.
The local support group has worked closely with Rufford Primary and raised funds to provide every school in the borough with a Healthy Bones pack produced by the National Osteoporosis Society. The school has worked alongside Dudley’s health promoting school service which linked them with the Dudley group of the National Osteoporosis Society. Teachers deliver lessons about calcium, healthy eating and exercise.
The Duchess then made her way to the newly built classrooms where she met teachers and members of the local Osteoporosis support group.
John Freeman, director of Dudley children’s services said:
“I am delighted Her Royal Highness the Duchess of Cornwall was able to visit Rufford Primary during her visit to the Black Country. The staff and pupils have worked exceptionally hard along with the Dudley support group promoting the health and wellbeing of children and young people”.
