St George and his dragon were a roaring success as thousands of people flocked to Sedgley for an annual celebration.
A knight on horseback and a 12 feet long dragon joined the traditional parade through the streets of the town on Saturday.
Sedgley hosted this year’s event which featured a packed programme of entertainment in Vicar Street Gardens.
Andrew Sparke, chief executive of Dudley Council, said:
“The day was a great success and it was wonderful to see so many people enjoying themselves.
“I want to thank everyone who came along for helping to make this one of our most successful celebrations.”
Hundreds of people took part in the parade which started in Mill Bank and ended at the Vicar Street Gardens. It included ex-servicemen and women, youth groups, school children, entertainers and civic dignitaries.
Entertainment in the gardens included bouncy castles and trampolines, as well as knights in shining armour who re-enacted famous battles, stilt walkers, a petting zoo and birds of prey and singing and dancing.
Dormston Centre also hosted a tea dance, while children got to make weird and wonderful things during a craft session at Sedgley Library.
The Mayor of Dudley got the festivities underway with a balloon launch and the crowds of people joined together for special renditions of Land of Hope and Glory, Jerusalem and God Save the Queen.
