David Bowater and Cleo Spence preparing for the night screenings at Stourbridge Town Hall.
Stourbridge Town Hall has proved it has all the right movies with new screenings taking place on the first Monday evening of every month.
The Dudley Council hall will hold the night screenings, which include a mixture of recent and nostalgic films, from Monday 1 September onwards.
It’s hoped the screenings will build on the success of the town hall’s Monday matinees, which will continue to show classic films on the first Monday afternoon of every month.
Night screenings confirmed for the coming season are Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, The assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford, Lawrence of Arabia, Batman Begins and Close Encounters of the Third Kind.
The hall shows films in the Wollaston Studio on a 14-foot screen with surround sound. Customers can enjoy the comfort of sitting at tables and chairs with tea and coffee included in the £3 ticket cost.
The first people to call for the first eight seats will receive free tickets for Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines on Monday 1 September.
Councillor Karen Shakespeare, cabinet member for environment and culture, said:
“Everyone loves going to the cinema and I’m sure the new Monday night screenings will build on the success of our popular matinees.
“To mark the launch of the new film night, Dudley Council is giving away the first eight tickets for free so I’d encourage people to call and book their tickets as soon as they can.”
Night screenings all start at 7.30pm except Lawrence of Arabia, which starts at 7pm. Tickets are available on 01384 812812 or www.dudley.gov.uk/entertainment. Some tickets may be available on the door.
