Carers are urged to sign up to a free creative writing workshop as only a few places remain.
Dudley Council is inviting people aged 16 or over who care for a relative or friend with a long term illness or disability or who is old and frail to put pen to paper at a creative writing workshop.
The workshop aims to introduce carers to short story and poetry writing and offers carers the opportunity to meet new people and share their experiences of being a carer.
The workshop will take place at Crossroads, Holly Hall, Dudley on Wednesday September 17 from 10am to 3pm.
Carers taking part can submit an assignment for written comment and are encouraged to work at their own pace.
The workshop has been organised by Dudley Council and will be delivered by the National Extension College thanks to lottery funding.
Councillor Peter Miller, cabinet member for adult and community services, said:
“Earlier in the year we held a similar workshop for carers, which proved extremely successful. The council is delighted to be working with the NationalExtensionCollege again and hope more carers sign up to the workshop to take some time out for themselves.”
Budding writers should call 01384 818723 or email carers.network@dudley.gov.uk to book their place on the course or to find out whether it’s suitable for them.
Everyone will receive a copy of The Creative Writing Course book, which includes handy advice and exercises for writing fiction and poetry.
