27 - E-ON contract extended

Archived news release from 2008

Dudley Council has extended its contract with a leading gas supplier to maintain and service homes across the borough.

Following a successful two years of running its gas contract with E-On, Dudley Council’s housing services has been extended.

The contract, which was originally won by local contractor CHN, was transferred to the international company, E-On following a buyout.  The programme of works includes the maintenance and servicing of council owned gas appliances for 20,000 tenanted properties, new installations of gas central heating and boiler replacements to meet the decent homes standard.

The contract, worth between £5 and £6 million per year, has so far demonstrated a number of benefits to council tenants. Customer satisfaction has been consistently high at over 90% and customer service advisors have been introduced to generate higher access rates and increase customer care.

Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing, said:
“We have been extremely pleased with the work we have been carrying out with E-On.  It is a truly open book approach to partnering, with both organisations coming together to work as one – to the benefit of the customer.

“There are consistently high customer satisfaction figures from our customers and we have increased our access rates to 97% to service our gas appliances – ensuring our tenants are safe in their homes.”
