Customers can now select the most suitable payment method for their lifestyle, with many options now using the ease of new technology. The ten methods are:
o Direct debit – tenants can now select the best payment date to suit their own needs. Payment can be taken directly from bank accounts on either the 6th or 28th of each month
o Online – tenants can make payments from the comfort of their own home through the Dudley Council website at www.dudley.gov.uk
o CallPay is the automated telephone line where payments can be made by credit or debit card. The service is available on 01384 817000
o Repairs management centre – tenants can pay their rent as well as reporting their repairs at the in-house call centre, which is open 24 hours a day, every day of the year. Simply ring 01384 818283
o Dudley Council Plus – tenants can pay their rent as well as asking general questions about council services by visiting the public access point located at Castle Street, Dudley, or telephoning them on 01384 812345
o Via Post – cheques should be made payable to ‘Dudley MBC’ and posted with a payment slip to any area housing office or Dudley Council Plus
o In Person – payment can be taken at area housing services offices located within Brierley Hill, Halesowen, North Dudley and Stourbridge, or by visiting Dudley Council Plus
o Via Paypoint* – tenants can pay wherever they see the distinctive Paypoint logo displayed within one of the 16,000 locations in the UK. Payment does not have to be taken within the borough, making it easier to pay on holiday
o Via Payzone* - tenants can pay wherever they see the distinctive Payzone logo displayed within one of the 26,000 locations within the UK. Payment does not have to be taken within the borough, making it easier to pay on holiday
o At the Post Office* – payment can be made at one of the 47 branches in the borough
Tenants who want use the Paypoint, Payzone or Post Office facilities will need to use their Housing Payment Card. If they have lost, or misplaced their card replacements are available by telephoning 01384 812345.
Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing, said:
‘Tenants often get concerned about how they can make payments, particularly with the many changes to the housing service. We want to make it as easy as possible for tenants to pay for their rent and by offering many payment facilities we aim to increase the convenience for our customers.”
