Due to planned maintenance there may be disruption to this site on Sunday 11th January from 8am through until 6pm. We apologise for any inconvenience that this may cause.
The newly resurfaced Hagley Road in Stourbridge will be re-opened ahead of schedule this week following successful works by Dudley Council and utility companies.
The road was closed at the start of the school summer holidays on July 19 for an anticipated six to eight weeks but the road will be re-opened later today (Thursday Aug 28).
The works have involved Severn Trent replacing an old sewer pipe and Dudley Council resurfacing the carriageway. The works were carried out during the school summer holidays when traffic volumes are lower in order to cause minimal disruption.
Council highways bosses are pleased the works have been completed in five and a half weeks, ensuring the key road is open before schools re-open and traffic volumes increase.
Councillor Angus Adams, cabinet member for transportation, said:
“We took the opportunity to carry out the works with the utility companies to cause minimal disruption and we are very pleased with how the works have gone. We would again apologise for any inconvenience while the works have been carried out.”
