Thousands of people turned out in Halesowen on Saturday to enjoy a day of seaside fun.
Donkey rides, sticks of rock and Punch and Judy shows helped transform Halesowen into a seaside town for the day.
Halesowen By The Sea, which was attended by the Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston and the Mayoress Mrs Debbis Burston, offered a day of entertainment for the whole family. It was the third year the event has been held and attracted more people than ever before.
Youngsters enjoyed donkey rides, face painting, a caricaturist, a giant sand pit and Punch and Judy shows. Meanwhile Halesowen sticks of rock were given out to shoppers who also enjoyed other entertainment such as Dave Dee’s mobile disco.
Street theatre was provided by sea characters including Robbie the Pirate, deep-sea divers, lobsters and others. There was also a visit by Dr Who impersonator, Adrian Kent-Robinson, owner of Blue Crystal Collectables in Halesowen.
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Ray Burston, said:
“Halesowen by the Sea offered a brilliant day out for the whole family. There was a huge variety of entertainment on offer and I was pleased to see so many people turned out to join in the fun.”
The event, organised by Dudley Council’s town centre management team, also featured a lifeboat courtesy of the RNLI.
