Green fingered tenants have once again come up roses in Dudley Council’s annual gardening competition.
With many prizes up for grabs, the competition, launched at the start of the year, gives tenants the chance to show off their blooms.
Top prize went to Geoffrey Withers, from Halesowen, for his spectacular garden of cottage flowers alongside a large vegetable area, which was mostly grown from seed. Mr Withers won overall borough winner and was also the Halesowen area winner.
Other categories included the best hanging basket/container, best garden, best sheltered housing scheme, best high rise scheme, best new entrant and DFTRA’s most creative garden.
An awards evening will be held later in the year. The event will also include an auction in aid of the Mayor’s charities, No Limits community project and the Thank You charity.
Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing said:
“Dudley’s annual garden competition is a fantastic opportunity for our green fingered tenants to show off their skills and the hard work they put into creating their beautiful gardens.
I’d like to congratulate all the winners and I look forward to meeting them at the presentation evening.”
