Archived news release from 2007

Shoppers have a last chance to secure a unique Christmas gift thanks to a special Christmas craft exhibition at the Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley

All I Want for Christmas features jewellery, paintings, glass, textiles and pottery by designer makers.

The exhibition showcases contemporary silver jewellery by Ettorte Consorte, colourful hand painted, anodized, aluminum jewellery by Michael Peckitt and stunning glass jewellery by Alicia Macinnes.
Work by textile artist Brenda Marshall in felt and silk is also featured alongside textiles, watercolours and mixed media paintings by Joyce Shaw.
There’s quirky colourful pottery by Sarah Jayne Fereday inspired by bugs and insects and raku pottery models of buildings, including one of the cone itself by potter Neil Spalding.  Potter Sophia Binney is showing her dishes for everyday use including platters and oven dishes in red earthenware clay with surface decoration.
Shoppers looking for glass can find handmade Christmas baubles by resident glass artist Ian Bamforth. Work by the other glass artists based at the cone as well as Stourbridge designers Shirley How, Kevin Barry, Allister Malcolm, Stuart Fletcher and Lynn Baker is on display in the shop, hot glass studio and courtyard gallery.
Visitors can drop in to see studio tenants including resident silver jeweller Jane Dominese and the Natural Soapworks as well as the Stuart Crystal Factory shop and museum shop.
Parents can keep youngsters happy on site with a free Christmas trail as part of the JAM club activities.
Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara, cabinet member for leisure and culture said:
“Shoppers looking for a special Christmas gift are in for a treat at the cone this December.”

All I want for Christmas runs until 23 December. Entry to the cone is free. The cone is open from 10am to 4pm Monday to Sunday.  For more information call 01384 812750.
