20 - Christmas and New Year bin collection dates

Collections will not take place on just three days - December 25, 26 and January 1.

 

Residents who are due to have their bins collected on Tuesday December 25 and January 1 will now have their bins emptied on Wednesday January 2.

 

Two black bags instead of the usual single one were issued on December 18 to cater for any extra rubbish.

 

Households due for collections on Wednesday December 26 and January 2, will receive double collections on January 3. Double refuse sacks were issued on December 19.

 

Residents who would have had their bins emptied on Thursday January 3 or Friday January 4 will receive their collections a day later (January 3 collections will take place on January 4 and January 4 collections will take place on January 5).

 

Residents who have their collections on Mondays will be unaffected by the changes, and all collections will be back to normal on Monday January 7.

 

 

“Our staff will be working very hard over the Christmas and New Year period with alternative collection dates to ensure the holidays cause minimum disruption to residents.

 

“There are a number of double collections and extra black bags being distributed to help with the possible increase in rubbish, and we will make sure those are collected as quickly as possible.”

 

During the holiday period, collections may also be carried out later in the day because of the extra rubbish, but people should still make their waste available from 6am.

 

The household waste site at Stourbridge will be closed on December 25, 26 and January 1, but will be open on all other days of the holiday period. It will be open 8am-6pm weekdays and 8am-4.30pm at weekends on all other days of the holiday period.

 

There will also be no kerbside recycling collections on December 25, 26 and January 1. Collections will take place on the next schedule collection date.
