Borough residents can enjoy winter scenery and learn more about their local wildlife and heritage in a series of countryside walks this December.
On Saturday 15 December from 10am to 1pm there’s an opportunity to make natural Christmas decorations at the Environment Zone, Roberts Primary School, Robert Street, Lower Gornal. Participants cancreate their own decorations using natural materials. Places cost £4 per person and booking is essential on 01384 814170.
There’s a winter solstice walk around The Leasowes on Saturday 22 December from 10am to 12 noon. Participants can join warden Helen Edwards for a walk on the shortest day of the year and learn about the ancient pagan celebration of the winter solstice. Booking is essential on 01384 814642. The walk meets at The Leasowes, off Mucklow Hill, Halesowen.
Residents can burn off the Christmas calories with a Christmas walk through Cotwall End Valley on Thursday 27 December. The walk will take in woodland, streams, ponds and the fossil face. The walk runs from 10am to 12noon and booking is essential on 07849 804242. The walk meets on the Brockswood Animal Sanctuary Car Park, on the corner of Catholic Lane and Cotwall End Road and accessed from Catholic Lane.
Children must be accompanied at all events and booking is essential. Please wear appropriate clothing and footwear.
