19 - Plan for next five years at Wren’s Nest

Archived news release from 2007

A vision of how a national nature reserve in Dudley should develop over the next five years will go out to public consultation this week.

The management plan for Wren’s Nest National Nature Reserve and Local Nature Reserve for 2008 to 2012 will go to consultation from December 21 to January 21.

A copy of the plan, which includes key objectives such as maintaining the features of geological interest and maintaining hibernation roosts, will be available for the public to view. Throughout the consultation period people can see the plan at Dudley Library in St James’s Road, Dudley Council Plus in Castle Street and Claughton House in Blowers Green Road.

The proposed management plan also includes plans to further enhance limestone and neutral grasslands at the nature reserve and maintain areas of open water. There is also an aim to provide an on-site reserve base, including a warden’s office and workshop.

Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said:
“I hope people will get along to any of the venues to take a look at the proposed plan and have their say on it. Wren’s Nest is a fantastic and well-used site and we want to ensure our plans fit in with the views of the public.”

Central Dudley Area Committee will also view and be asked to support the proposed management plan at its meeting on January 22.
