5 - Temporary path closure at Leasowes

Archived news release from 2007

Part of a path on a Dudley borough beauty spot has been temporarily closed.

The bank, which the unofficial path is on at The Leasowes, had started to erode and a number of users had raised the matter with site wardens.

A 30 metre stretch of the path, which leads to Ladypool Close has now been closed while a more suitable, alternative route for a path is considered.

Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said:

“We have taken the decision to close this section of the path on one side of the canal. People can of course still walk on the other side of the canal while we work on creating a suitable alternative path.”

Signage has gone up at The Leasowes to make users aware of the closure and to encourage them to use the other path for the time being.
