Motorists in Dudley have been given a boost after one of the council’s car parks was awarded a top safety award.
The Bilston Street car park, in Sedgley, has become the 13th in the borough to scoop the Safer Parking Award from The Association of Chief Police Officers’ Park Mark.
The awards are handed out after being scrutinised by an expert judging panel looking for the safest car parks across the country.
The group, made up of police and parking experts, judged the latest council car park to have achieved a high standard of safety for people, and awarded the coveted status for the next 12 months.
Councillor Angus Adams, cabinet member for transportation, said:
“This is a fantastic accolade for our car parks and we hope it will encourage people to visit our town centres, safe in the knowledge they are parking in a recognised safe car park.”
Other car parks which have been awarded the Safer Parking Award include Bank Street in Brierley Hill, Flood Street, King Street and Stafford Street in Dudley; Andrew Road and Birmingham Street in Halesowen; Manor Park in Kingswinford and Birmingham Street, Stourbridge.
