16 - Hundreds sign up to job alerts

More than 600 people have already signed up to Dudley Council’s job alerts scheme since it launched at the start of November.

 

The alerts are sent directly via email to people looking for work in the Dudley borough thanks to the innovative council initiative.

 

Dudley Council is helping people into work through the system which sends weekly email alerts about vacancies. The scheme is part of the council’s Dudley means business campaign to help the borough through the recession.

 

People seeking work with the council can sign up to the scheme which simply asks for their name and a contact email address. It also allows users to specify the kind of jobs they are looking for. There are more than 40 job categories people can sign up for from administration or customer services to social work or leisure.

 

Jobs currently available at the council include school staff, a planning officer and a waste collection driver.

 

 

“It is good to see people are signing up to the scheme to ensure they don’t miss out on any jobs that may come up. The weekly updates alert job seekers to work appropriate to them so I would encourage even more people to sign up.

 

“While people can check out vacancies on our website at www.dudley.gov.uk, by signing up to this scheme they will have less difficulty finding the right job as the right job should find them.”

 

Each email received lists the total number of jobs on the Dudley site, the number of jobs that the user has registered an interest in previously, including the links to each job application form. It will also provide the option for the user to log into their account and either amend their details or unsubscribe.

 

If there are no new jobs in any week an alert email would be sent to let the user know but it would also remind people of jobs already available on the website from previous weeks.
