More than £100 million is to be spent over the next three years on improving Dudley Council’s 23,500 housing stock.
The proposal to go before cabinet members next week will ensure all council houses will meet the government’s Decent Homes target by 2010.
The investment will improve energy efficiency, combat climate change and reduce fuel poverty. In addition it will maintain community safety, provide environmental and social programmes and will allow the council to improve an already high performing repairs service.
Councillor Michael Evans, cabinet member for housing, said:
‘This is excellent news for our tenants. We continually strive to make sure our council stock is maintained by a four star service and consult with residents to make sure the service we provide is the right one.’
