29 - Putting a spring in Dudley’s step

Spring has come early in Dudley with parts of the town centre receiving a council-led spring clean up.

Court Passage, which runs to the side of many of the High Street stores, has been cleared of rubbish and gated off to make the area safer and cleaner for the businesses that use it.

Dudley Council is pruning and replacing some of the turf at Coronation Gardens to keep the space pleasant and safe. Graffiti has also been removed from town centre passageways and open spaces.

Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for economic regeneration, said:

“We treated the work to Court Passage, which was funded by the Safe and Sound Partnership, as a priority because the path acts as a fire escape for many of the neighbouring buildings.

“It’s great to see how much commitment there is to improve our town centre, the area looks much tidier, brighter and safer already.”

For more information on the work contact Andrea Jones, Dudley town centre manager, on 01384 814659.
