6 - Half term activities at museums

There’s family fun at museums this half term thanks to the popular JAM club.

At Broadfield House Glass Museum from 12 to 17 February there’s a free transport trail. Children can hunt for the different types of glass around the museum and make their own unique mode of transport. This runs from 12noon to 4pm.

Over at Dudley Museum & Art Gallery on 12 and 13 February at 11am, 12noon and 1pm, youngsters can join in Art Attack! and have a go at making their own sculptures drawing on inspiration from the Robert Bowers exhibition in the main gallery. Sessions cost £2.25 per child and but may take longer than one hour to complete.

From 11 to 16 February there’s the free tell me a picture trail. Children can search for images hidden in the museum’s pieces of art.  This runs from 10am to 4pm.

At the Red House Glass Cone from 12 to 14 February there’s a chance to have a go at making fused glass jewellery. Join artists Shelagh Swanson and Karl Harron as they teach people how to make own glass jewellery. There are two sessions a day from 10.30am to 12.30pm and 1.30pm to 3.30pm.

This activity is suitable for both adults and children and all places cost £5 per person. These sessions must be booked in advance and children must be accompanied by an adult.

From 11-17 February there’s a free Glass Trail from 10am to 4pm. Youngsters can patrol the site looking for the tools used to make glass and find pieces from the collection.

Entry to all sites is free. For further information call the Red House Cone on 01384 812750, Dudley Museum and Art Gallery on 01384 815575 or Broadfield House Glass Museum on 01384 812745.
