A new footpath at Saltwells Nature Reserve providing better access is nearing completion.
The creation of a new path will provide a safer route into the nature reserve along Saltwells Lane and will provide a more stable surface for wheelchair users and pushchairs. Contractors have been working on the improvements over the last month and the path is due to be open by Friday 22 February. Following completion of this, further work will be carried out on paths and fences in other areas of the reserve.
Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara, cabinet member for leisure and culture, said:
“The new path is just one initiative in an ongoing programme of improvements and has been possible thanks to £30,000 funding from the section 106 agreement. The path is a welcome development and will be a much safer way for people to get into the reserve.”
