A sod-cutting ceremony will get the wheels in motion for creation of a new skate park in Dudley.
The start of the building work in North Dudley will be marked by the removal of a ceremonial first spadeful of earth by the young people involved in the project.
The ceremony will take place on Wednesday 13 February at 3pm at Tenacre Lane by organisers and young people who have campaigned for several years to get the park built. The skate/wheels park will be built on the Tenacre Fields site off Tenacre Lane in Upper Gornal thanks to Big Lottery Funding and capital funding from Dudley North Area Committee costing a total of £91,000.
Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara, cabinet member for culture and leisure, said:
“The new facility will bring a much-needed recreation area for the local young people. A group of eight teenagers have put a huge amount of effort into getting the funding. They have also had hands-on involvement working on concepts with the landscape architect and designers. I look forward to seeing the finished structure”.
