Visitors to the Red House Glass Cone in Wordsley can see the final exhibition of work by Stourbridge artists after their move to the continent.
This is first ever joint exhibition by Shirley How and Tim Seaward who together set up Stourbridge based business Glazam. Tim and Shirley have now moved to France where they intend to work on their art and run classes and workshops.
This exhibition brings together glass designer Shirley and her collection of classic jewellery, new furniture and stained glass panels with artist Tim who produces enigmatic abstract canvases with rich colours and textures.
Shirley’s initial introduction to glass was finding old glass necklaces when she was about fifteen years old, this started a collection of beaded ephemera discovering the world of Tiffany and Lalique. It led to the production of a wide range of interesting and inspirational pieces from traditional painted and leaded panels to unique items of contemporary jewellery.
Tim discovered a passion for painting at the age of seven and subsequently developed a meditative approach, aiming to share what he sees so that the observer can draw something almost tangible from the pieces. He has exhibited in London, RSBA Birmingham, Manchester, Bristol, Bath and outlying areas.
Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara cabinet member for leisure and culture said:
“I’m so pleased that the cone is hosting this final exhibition by Stourbridge based and inspired artists. I wish Tim and Shirley all the best for their new lives in France. “
