1 - Volunteer awards for physical activity

 
Sports volunteers of all ages, interests and backgrounds are set to be honoured at an awards ceremony next week.
 
The volunteer awards for physical activity recognise the valuable contribution volunteers make to sport and physical activity in Dudley.
 
Dudley Council’s sport and recreation team has organised the awards in partnership with Next Generation Club who are sponsoring the event which will be hosted by Heart FM DJ Ed James.
 
There are four categories, one of which will be decided by public vote.
 
The categories include young people’s sports leadership volunteer programme (sponsored by Dudley Council’s sport and recreation team, school sport partnerships and the Dudley Primary Care Trust) which recognises the achievements of young people who completed a course in sports leadership allowing them to mentor young people through sport.
 
A second award, volunteers in physical activity (sponsored by Dudley Primary Care Trust) recognises leaders of activities including a walking bus, practice mentor and walk leader.
 
The Active Dudley volunteer award, recognising the contribution of volunteers to the Active Dudley programme.
 
The final category, adult volunteer of the year has been designed to celebrate the outstanding contribution volunteers make to raising participation in sport. This award will be decided by public vote. People wishing to cast a vote can do so by competing the nomination form available at leisure centres or by calling 01384 815594.
 
The closing date for nominations is 1 February. The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 7 February at Next Generation Club, Brierley Hill.
