Apprentices working at a Kingswinford company got the chance to meet the Mayor of Dudley during national apprenticeship week.
The Mayor of Dudley, Councillor Michael Evans, visited Logistics Apprenticeship Training Academy Ltd (LATA) this week (Tuesday February 7) where he met apprentices working and training at the company.
Apprentices at the academy train in all aspects of logistics including forklift truck driving, management of business operations including storage, transportation and delivery of goods. LATA apprentices get a real job, a real salary and real prospects with hands-on-training which lead to qualifications recognised by employers.
The visit is part of a national awareness raising campaign which is taking place during February 6 to 10 highlighting apprenticeships to employers, young people and their parents.
Councillor Michael Evans, Mayor of Dudley, said:
“I met staff at the academy and saw what quality training is offered and heard from the apprentices about their experiences of working.
“I hope to visit more companies in the borough over the forthcoming months and look forward to meeting many more business people in their workplaces.”
There are 200 different types of apprenticeships available nationally covering more than 1,200 different jobs in a range of industry sectors. Businesses looking to employ 16 to 18 year olds apprentices can get full funding from the government.
