Dudley Council’s sport and recreation team is on the lookout for the borough’s adult sports volunteer of the year.
The volunteer awards for physical activity recognise the valuable contribution volunteers make to sport and physical activity in Dudley. There are four categories. One of which, adult sports volunteer of the year, will be decided by public vote.
The award recognises an individual’s commitment to volunteering in sport.
Councillor Charles Fraser Macnamara, cabinet member for leisure and culture said:
“This could be running a children’s football or cricket team, coaching an individual to competition level, providing secretarial support for a local sports club or running a sports group for parents and carers.
“It’s about the impact the individual has on the lives of the people they work with, not necessarily the scale of their sporting achievement.”
The closing date for nomination is 1 February. The awards ceremony will be held on Thursday 7 February at Next Generation Club, Brierley Hill.
Dudley Council’s sport and recreation team has organised the awards in partnership with Next Generation Club who are sponsoring the event. The award ceremony will be hosted by Heart FM DJ Ed James.
