People looking for jobs are in for a boost after Dudley Council signed up to a new scheme to put people back to work on multi-million pound regeneration projects across the borough.
The national scheme aims to provide on-site training and job opportunities by setting up links with contractors.
Dudley Council has signed up to National Skills Academy for Construction which will specifically target the borough’s skilled people looking for work, through the council’s Future Skills Dudley initiative.
It could see people working on exciting multi-million pound projects including the North Priory housing scheme and Castle Hill and Zoo project.
Councillor Malcolm Knowles, cabinet member for economic regeneration, said:
“We have a wealth of experienced and skilled people in Dudley and this is an ideal opportunity to build on that to the full potential.
“This scheme will help us match up landmark regeneration developments with the expertise in this borough.”
The Future Skills Dudley initiative aims to get unemployed people aged 18 and over into training and employment opportunities.
They can gain a range of recognised vocational qualifications, which can bridge the gap into the workplace.
