Wordsley residents can get a bit of culture while burning calories thanks to a series of walks to the Red House Glass Cone.
Dudley Council’s parks team has recently extended its Wordsley trail walk to take in exhibitions at the visitor attraction.
The picturesque fortnightly, one hour walk meets at the main car park, Wordsley Park off Lawnswood Road and takes in the parkland and canal towpaths before a stop off at the cone. The walks cover the following exhibitions; The Romans on 9 January, Plowden and Thompson:The Magic of Glass on 6 February, Unique Glass Works on 5 March and Kevin Barry Cut Glass on 2 April.
The standard Wordsley trail which covers the canals and parkland but not the cone meets every Wednesday at 10am on 23 January, 20 February, 19 March, 16 and 30 April.
The walk is part of the Walk Fit, Buggy Fit and Green Fit programme which allows participants to get fit, have fun and make new friends – for free.
Participants need to wear appropriate clothing and footwear and arrive at the meeting point ten minutes before the walk starts. There is no need to book. Dogs are not allowed on the visits to the cone.
